I hold a Doctorate in Teacher Education and a Master of Fine Arts in ceramics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. I studied ceramics in West Africa through Parsons School of Design and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education from the State University of New York at New Paltz.
My ceramic art has been sold and exhibited nationwide.
I taught at Hampshire College for many years before joining the amazing Art Education faculty at Boston University in the fall of 2021. From 2022 to 2023, I pursued Mindfulness Teacher Training and earned my 300-hour certification as a Mindfulness Meditation Teacher from the Engaged Mindfulness Institute in Deerfield, MA. In the fall of 2024, I deepened my clay practice by accepting an artist-in-residence position at the Worcester Center for Crafts.
I am passionate about teaching all aspects of art education, with a particular focus on Art in Education and its role as a vehicle for learning and social change. I work extensively with both pre-service and in-service teachers and am currently exploring ways to integrate my love of clay, education, and mindfulness. A certified K-12 art teacher, I have over 30 years of experience teaching children and adults locally and internationally.
I currently live in Amherst, Massachusetts with my husband Aaron and two dogs (Mooji and Petey).
